"The best charity is to satisfy a hungry person, to provide knowledge to someone, and to free a captive." – Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Education is the cornerstone of individual growth, societal progress, and national development. It is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty, empower communities, and foster a brighter future. However, in India, the Muslim community faces significant educational challenges, with 52% of Muslims lacking basic literacy skills (National Statistical Office, 2021). This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for institutions that provide quality education while preserving Islamic values and principles.

The Salahuddin Ayyubi Foundation is spearheading a transformative initiative to establish Al Aqsa University in Ajmer, Rajasthan. This institution will not only address the educational gap but also serve as a beacon of hope, empowerment, and spiritual growth for the Muslim community in India and beyond.

Causes

The Crisis: Why This Project is Urgent

Educational Disparities Among Indian Muslims

51% of Muslims in India are illiterate, compared to the national average of 26% (Census 2011). 18.64% of Muslim students drop out in grades 11 and 12, primarily due to financial constraints and lack of access to quality education (UDISE+ Report, 2021-2023). 11 million Muslim children dropped out of school in 2021 due to poverty and inadequate resources (Annual Status of Education Report, 2021).

Economic Challenges

31% of Muslims live below the poverty line, making education a secondary priority to survival (All India Debt & Investment Survey, 2021). 25% of beggars in India are Muslim, highlighting the dire economic conditions faced by the community.

Cultural and Spiritual Erosion

Existing educational institutions often fail to integrate Islamic values into their curricula, leading to a disconnect between modern education and cultural identity. This has resulted in a generation of Muslim youth struggling to balance their faith with the demands of a rapidly globalizing world.

Why Al Aqsa University?

Al Aqsa University is not just another educational institution; it is a holistic solution to the multifaceted challenges faced by the Muslim community. Here’s what sets it apart:

Join us to transform lives

The university will integrate Islamic principles into its curriculum, ensuring that students grow spiritually and morally while excelling academically. Quranic studies, ethics, and Islamic history will be core components of the education system.

The university will offer state-of-the-art facilities, including modern computer labs, coding classes, and vocational training, to equip students with skills relevant to the 21st-century job market.

Through the Masoom Scholarship Programme, 2,500 students will receive free education, uniforms, and school supplies annually. This ensures that financial constraints do not hinder access to quality education.

Beyond academics, the university will focus on mental health, physical fitness, and community engagement. Facilities like a psychosocial support room, gymnasium, and sports hall will nurture well-rounded individuals.

Ajmer, home to the revered Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Dargah, is a symbol of peace, unity, and spiritual enlightenment. Establishing Al Aqsa University here honors this legacy and provides students with a serene environment for learning and growth.

Why Ajmer?

Ajmer is not just a city; it is a spiritual and cultural hub that attracts millions of devotees and tourists annually. The presence of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, a Sufi saint known for his message of love, tolerance, and service to humanity, makes Ajmer an ideal location for an institution dedicated to education and spiritual growth. By establishing Al Aqsa University in Ajmer, we are:

  • Reviving the Spirit of Sufism
  • Creating a Safe Haven
  • Honoring History

How is Al Aqsa University Different from Other Muslim Institutions?

While institutions like Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Jamia Millia Islamia have made significant contributions to Muslim education, they often face challenges such as overcrowding, limited resources, and a lack of focus on Islamic values. Al Aqsa University aims to fill these gaps by: Focusing on Holistic Education: Combining modern education with Islamic principles to create well-rounded individuals. Prioritizing Accessibility: Offering scholarships and financial aid to ensure that no student is left behind. Promoting Innovation: Emphasizing skill-based learning, including coding, vocational training, and entrepreneurship. Building a Global Network: Collaborating with international institutions to provide students with global opportunities.

The Impact of Al Aqsa University

Empowering the Muslim Community By providing quality education, Al Aqsa University will empower Muslim youth to break free from the cycle of poverty and contribute meaningfully to society. Preserving Islamic Identity The university will serve as a guardian of Islamic values, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their faith and culture. Fostering Unity and Tolerance Inspired by the teachings of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, the university will promote harmony and understanding among diverse communities. Creating Future Leaders The institution will nurture the next generation of Muslim leaders, thinkers, and innovators who can address the challenges of the modern world.
