History and Values
Salahuddin Ayyubi Foundation is a non-governmental organization based in Ajmer, India, that aims to enhance education and improve the quality of life for Muslims. The foundation was established by Mohammad Rais Khatri, an entrepreneur and social activist, in the memory of the great Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi, also known as Saladin, who was a courageous and brilliant Muslim leader during the 12th century.
The foundation’s history and values are inspired by the legacy of Salahuddin Ayyubi, who was a true follower of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and famous for his bravery, statesmanship, justice, mercy, tolerance, and as a brilliant military leader and soldier. He ruled over present-day Israel, Palestine, Yemen, Egypt, Upper Mesopotamia, Syria, a few parts of Africa and Turkey, and established the Ayyubid Dynasty. He also fought against the European Crusaders who had conquered Jerusalem and killed Thousands of Muslims in 1099. He eventually liberated Jerusalem from the Crusaders in 1187 after the Battle of Hattin.

He believed that education was the key to empowering marginalized communities and breaking the cycle of poverty. In 2021, he founded the Salahuddin Ayyubi Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy and education in marginalized communities in India and beyond.
